Business Development Consultant - Group Medicare Advantage/Part D Benefit Plan Expert

Location: Aligned to an Elevance Health office, but ability to work remotely.

Responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving Group Medicare Advantage and Part D Plans for potential and existing clients to ensure plans are company and CMS compliant. Responsible for developing custom benefit charts for the Group Retiree Solutions department.

How you will make an impact:

  • Monitors and analyzes standard medical and pharmacy product benefit plans to help determine optimal strategy and client offering.

  • Provides research, analysis and recommendations on the external environment as part of the development of strategic plans for the business unit.

  • Reviews competitor plans and consults with sales and underwriting to develop suitable benefit offerings, including custom plans.

  • Identifies and monitors changing patterns of competition and recommends responses.

  • Develop custom benefit plans/charts that are CMS compliant for RFPs and renewals for fully insured medical and pharmacy plans and fully insured and ASO Part D only plans.

  • Consult with Sales, Account Managers, Underwriters, and Proposal Coordinators on custom benefit designs for RFPs and renewals.

  • Coordinates with Product, Compliance, and Actuarial to ensure the benefit plan is compliant.

  • Uses Elevance Health proprietary application to approve and finalize documents.

  • Assist with maintenance and testing enhancements for benefits tool.

  • Analyzes recommends and implements enhancements to the Custom Benefit Plan/Chart processes.

  • Attends annual Product Development work sessions and recommends benefit changes based on prior year custom requests.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a BA/BS related degree and a minimum of 5 years of healthcare related experience including at least 3 years of business development experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences

  • MS/MBA is preferred.

  • Experience and knowledge of Medicare Advantage and Part D most notably Group Medicare is strongly preferred.

  • Experience and knowledge of benefit coding, review or plan creation is highly preferred.

  • Experience interacting confidently with key stakeholders, as a subject matter expert and comfortable with influencing decision-making.

  • Excellent written, oral, presentation and interpersonal communication skills with the proven ability to negotiate expectations between multiple parties.

  • Proficient of Microsoft Office products, most notably expertise in Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.

For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $79,600 to $143,280
